FAQs
You have come to the right place! DenPro specialises in high-quality, high-performance PPE for the healthcare sector. Designed and manufactured in Northern Ireland, DenPro is proud to offer the FFP3 NR mask, a premium non-valved disposable cup-shaped half mask respirator.
With an 89%* Fit Testing Pass Rate (*source: FitTest.ie), the DenPro FFP3 NR mask is highly
breathable, splash resistant, latex and metal free. The 4-point head strap adjustment, electrostatic filter media and contoured, moulded face seal; makes our mask respirator highly comfortable with an APF 20 (Assigned Protection Factor). Certified to EN149:2001 + A1:2009 and patent pending.
An FFP3 NR mask must provide maximum protection for every individual wearer. It cannot protect the wearer if it leaks. One of the key reasons for leaks is due to poor fit – a proper seal needs to be made to fit securely on the wearer’s face to ensure effectiveness. Due to differences in face shapes and sizes, it is unlikely that one particular FFP3 NR mask will fit everyone. Therefore, fit testing is carried out to ensure that the mask is selected to suit the wearer.
With an 89%* Fit Testing Pass Rate (*source: FitTest.ie), the DenPro FFP3 NR mask is deemed to be one with the highest fit testing pass rates. Fit Testing should be conducted by a trained, qualified, and experienced individual. Please visit the Fit2Fit RPE Fit Test Providers Accreditation Scheme which is run by The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) for more information.
The mask respirator must be correctly fitted to your face shape. As face sizes and shapes differ, a fit check procedure must be completed for each individual wearer. The fit check procedure involves:
- Cover the front of the respirator with both hands, being careful not to disturb the position of the respirator.
- Exhale sharply. If any air leaks around the nose, readjust the nosepiece as per fitting instructions. If air leaks at the respirator edges, adjust the position of the respirator and / or tension of the straps.
- Retest the seal.
- Repeat the procedure until the respirator is sealed properly. If you cannot achieve a proper fit do not enter contaminated area. See your supervisor.
Basically, an FFP3 NR mask will offer greater protection than an FFP2 and FFP1 mask. We talk about APF (Assigned Protection Factor), and for your guidance, an FFP1 has an APF 4, an FFP2 has an APF 10 and an FFP3 has an APF 20.
Please select the most appropriate respirator according to the contaminant and OEL (Occupational Exposure Level. If you are unsure, please seek further guidance before selecting the correct respirator for your requirements.
Only use any respirator mask for a single shift, and a maximum for 8 hours in total. It is recommended to change the DenPro FFP3 NR mask after every 4 hours of use.
